چکیده
This paper explores fundamental mechanisms of negatively thermodynamic toughening during microphase separations double network (DN) hydrogels, which have dynamically coordinating components with adjustable swelling behavior and designable multi-shape memory effect (multi-SME). Based on the Flory–Huggins theory Fick's second law, a model is formulated to study diffusive dynamics, cooling-triggered multi-SME mechanical toughness DN hydrogels. The hydrogels strongly dependent their water concentration, hydrophobic transition separation. Finally, effectiveness this new demonstrated by applying it predict dual-SME, quadruple-SME shape behaviors provides methodology for design tunable, giant programmable multi-SME.

Molecular model for toughening in double-network hydrogels.
A molecular mechanism is proposed for the toughness enhancement observed in double-network (DN) hydrogels prepared from poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) (PAMPS) polyelectrolyte network and poly(acrylamide) (PAAm) linear polymer. It is an extension of the phenomenological model set forth recently by Gong et al. ( Macromolecules 2007, 40, 6658- 6664 ). This mechanism rationalize...

The quantum-mechanical and thermodynamic properties of a three-level molecular cooling cycle are derived. An inadequacy of earlier models is rectified in accounting for the spontaneous emission and absorption associated with the coupling to the coherent driving field via an environmental reservoir. This additional coupling need not be dissipative, and can provide a thermal driving force-the qua...

This paper gives a general view of a recently developed thermodynamic model of the thermoelastic rnartensitic transformation. Unlike existing empirical, mathematical or thermodynamic models, this generalised thermodynamic model can be used to understand and describe quantitatively the overall thermomechanical behaviour of polycrystalline shape memory alloys. Important points of difference betwe...

In dentistry, pure gutta-percha (trans-1,4-polyisoprene (TPI)) is widely used as a main component of root canal filling materials. TPI has an interesting shape memory formed through cross-linking, and this characteristic is expected to be very effective for development of novel dental treatments; in particular, modification of the shape recovery temperature to the intraoral temperature (37 ̋C) ...

In this article we describe the preparation and characterization of a water-triggered shape memory polymer (SMP) family, PCL–PEG based thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs). Upon immersion in water, water molecules selectively swelled the hydrophilic PEG domains, resulting in durable hydrogels with strain-to-failure values greater than 700%. Dry samples fixed in a temporary shape underwent watertr...
